How do you remember me?

So this post had me a bit stumped, It is day 23 and the challenge is a way in which I want to be remembered.

It has me thinking of how I live my life, how those brief encounters with others can affect them. Do they remember me for a moment, for the rest of the day. I hope if they do spend a fleeting moment in remembering their day it's a positive memory of the stranger who smiled, who offered a helping hand, who held their place in line, who patiently waited for their child to finish. I'd like to think that I am a happy, positive, caring individual who if I even met you for the briefest moment you would want to smile from our encounter.

Now I know I don't always leave this impression, sometimes I have other things on my mind and I don't notice that I could have held the door open for that person behind me. I'm sure I'm not smiling 24/7 and I know that sometimes I am not the most patient person in the world (particularly behind the wheel). This challenge today is a bit of a wake-up call, to try to be more positive, smile more, be more considerate of those around me and more aware of the needs of others, even perfect strangers. A good reminder to live my daily life on purpose.

I also thought about how those who love me and know me best remember me, or rather think of me. I was lucky enough to marry the most wonderful man this summer. We found Jerry Stilson who is an amazing marriage commissioner. Each ceremony he performs is personal to the couple he marries, he asked us each to give him 5 words about the other, these words were to be kept secret and so we didn't know what the other had said until the ceremony. The words my lovely husband used to describe me were:

Intelligent
Kind Hearted
Silly
Full of Life
&
Caring.

This is high praise indeed (even silly is praise coming from my husband he means it in a positive way as in I'm happy and don't take life to seriously, that I enjoy life and laughter) and hopefully I can continue to live in such a way so that others will think of me in the same way. I guess I don't just want to live in the same way but strive to be better everyday!

Our song....

It is Day 12: A song we played at our wedding

If you click on this button you can learn more about this challenge
We have very different taste in music and the things we do like are quite random so it was actually a bit difficult to find our song to dance to but after hours of searching it was finally decided.
Crush by Dave Matthews Band.

It's a beautiful song and it was so lovely to dance to. We took dance lessons and learned to Rumba.... quite a fun first dance if I do say so myself.
Our first dance
We were a bit nervous and my dress was much bigger than we were used to, plus during out photo's we kinda broke part of the bustle but it was fun and turned out well.

The song we requested as our first get everybody dancing on the dance floor song was.
Camel Walk by Southern culture on the skids.

This is kinda our engagement song. We listened and sang along to this song on the night we got engaged and when I hear it I always think of that night and Kelly singing to me "ooooo eee you make me wanna walk..." It is a super fun song!

What song did you play at your wedding, Or if you are still looking forward to that wedding day what song do you hope to play at your wedding?

Want to catch up on Days 1-11 Here you go....

Use every moment to fill yourself up

The title of todays blog is a quote from Oprah... When thinking of the day 6 challenge I was thinking of the positive and negative context of reliving moments of our lives. I was thinking of how we often relive moments in our lives that we wish we could "do-over" and dwell on negative choices we have made .... when we relive these moments and dwell on them we are not being present in our lives. How can we press forward and put our best foot forward if we are too busy living in the past? We must remember that it is these moments that can change us, it is our choice to learn and grow from these experiences and take those moments and push ourselves to be more. I am really bad about this, I don't know why but I often will have negative moments of my life pop into my head and I have a hard time pushing them aside or rather using them as a stepping stone and remembering that every moment makes me who I am. I need to remember as well as anybody, that I can use these moments, and experiences to BE MORE! Oprah puts it so well, "You are built not to shrink down to less, but to blossom into more. To be more splendid. To be more extraordinary. To use every moment to fill yourself up."

Another beautiful quote that I found inspiring while thinking about moments in my life.
“Life is filled with moments that change us, teach us, make us catch our breath, and sometimes make us happy just to be alive.”
~John St. Augustine

So shall we get to it.... Day 6 in my 30 Day getting to know you challenge

A moment I wish I could Relive
I tried not to be too predictable but it's just the honest truth. I wish I could relive my wedding day.

It was such a beautiful, fantastic, perfect day!

And I was so happy and filled with love all day that I can't help but want to go back and do it all over!

The only thing I'd do differently is finding a way to be able to spend more time chatting with my guests! And maybe getting Kelly in the photo booth with me another time, as well as getting in the photo booth with my mom.

Although it may be predictable I can't help but wish to relive that wonderful day every so often. Here is to looking forward and enjoying many more moments of Love, Joy and perfection with my Love by my side. Taking each moment in stride and using it to be More!

I would love to hear your thoughts and any moments you wish to relive.

I am alive.... promise

Ok this has gone on long enough... I look at my blog and know I need to post but there always seem to be a million other things to do. It is true but tonight I am avoiding the million other things and writing a blog post because really...it's about time!

So what is new and exciting in my life, well only one month until my wedding day!

I've become really good at procrastinating on wedding stuff (yikes) But it will all come together in the end (right??!!?!!)

What do I need to do you ask.... Well let me tell you!

The feather fiasco that is my wedding needs to continue,
I have finished my bouquet made of feather flowers, and the boutonniere's. I still need to complete my veil and fascinator, as well as my matron of honour's fascinator. The centerpieces  need to be completed and the felting has not even started.

I am planning on making something like this cute felted dumpling bag for my flower girl to carry:

And I am going way out on a limb to try to create this as an alternative to a ring pillow:

This girl on etsy makes beautiful hollow books her shop is called secretsafebooks but I found a book at a used book store that I'm itching to try out so we'll keep you posted on how that turns out.

I also haven't even started on my seating chart... I'm going to do alphabetical but haven't decided exactly how I'd like it to look... deciding on something like this ....

But I wouldn't make it so big and all the pink circles wouldn't be on there but I like the idea of the fun fonts .... Or something like this
 which I found here
I like the idea of the photo's but I would probably do it a bit differently....

Or just going for this style
 which I found here

what do you think?

This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as things I need to do, but putting it here on the blog has just motivated me to get a move on! I'm hoping to keep you updated on how some of these projects turn out.

Wedding Brain..

So today was the day of all days for brides to be in Calgary. The huge wedding fair! I went and although it was chalk a block full of people still had a wonderful time. I entered my name in a bajillion draws to win stuff and although I really think at some point after receiving a ton of annoying emails and such I will regret it for now I'm thinking it will all be worth it, particularly if I win that trip to Tahiti!!! crossing my fingers and knocking on wood and all those other great things to not jinx this win.

I really enjoyed watching the fashion show and I was sitting in the second row so had an awesome view of all the dresses and such. I have already bought my dress so I wasn't as much interested in the dresses although it was nice to see that I still think my dress is a billion times more fabulous than any other dress on that runway! I was however noticing the head wear as I plan on making my own hair piece and veil and although there are a lot of styles I like I'm still not solid on exactly how I want it. I got a few great ideas and some inspiration and definitely some DO NOT DO (for example do not make it look like I have a helicopter made out of tulle on my head).

I am rather excited though to have a photo booth at my wedding :) it will be SO much fun, Kelly thinks it's not so much fun for guys but he said as long as I could find a way to fit it in the budget he's fine with it! So I cut the flowers completely out! And we will use the booth photo's as our favors so GOODBYE flowers and "traditional" favors and HELLO fun times photo booth!! whoot!

It was a good day and it'll be an even better day when I get that phone call or email telling me I have won a honeymoon! keep your fingers crossed for me!
